Embark on an exhilarating adventure at Sliding Rock, a stunning 60-foot natural water slide that ends in a cool, 8-foot deep mountain pool. With nearly 11,000 gallons of water rushing over the rock each minute, it’s an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest. Whether you’re taking the plunge or enjoying the view from the observation area, Sliding Rock is a favorite spot for all ages.
While the area remains accessible year-round, full operations take place from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. During this time, lifeguards are on duty, restrooms are open, and the site is staffed daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Outside of the summer season, there are no lifeguards or open facilities. Water temperatures can be cold, and conditions may be unpredictable.
If you’re planning a visit during the operational season, arriving outside of peak hours—typically between 12 noon and 4 PM—can help you enjoy a more relaxed day. Please also be aware that the area may temporarily close during periods of heavy rain, high water, or lightning to help ensure visitor safety.
-
The facility offers restrooms with changing areas and on-site parking during the staffed season (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day).
To help ease congestion, picnicking is not permitted within the recreation area. Please use nearby picnic spots before or after your visit.
Law enforcement officers are present on weekends and holidays to help manage parking, traffic flow, and visitor safety.

The entry fee is $5 per person. Credit cards are preferred, but cash is accepted. All sales are final; no refunds.
