POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager, Ocala National Forest
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, Ocala
LOCATION: Juniper Springs Recreation Area, Silver Springs, FL
POSITION TYPE: Full time, Salaried (Exempt)
SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience
BENEFITS: Annual discretionary bonus opportunity; health insurance after eligibility period: medical, vision, dental (company pays 50% of employee plan); 401K with company match after eligibility period; company-paid group policies: life insurance (equal to one year salary), STD, LTD; generous PTO, and retail discounts.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee multiple campgrounds and day-use areas under contract within the Ocala National Forest. This position requires strong leadership skills and extensive experience in outdoor recreation management. The Operations Manager will supervise multiple Site Supervisors and ensure exceptional guest experience while maintaining compliance with Forest Service regulations and environmental stewardship standards.
This position has the option to live on-site at one of our locations in their own RV. Full hookup RV site with all utilities is provided.
Host site is contingent on employment and ends when employment is terminated.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
Oversee daily operations across multiple Forest Service campgrounds and day-use areas
Ensure compliance with all Forest Service regulations, permits, and contract requirements
Manage seasonal opening and closing procedures for assigned facilities
Monitor operational budgets for multiple locations
Coordinate with Retail Manager to ensure staff are properly trained regarding retail and rental processes.
Implement and maintain safety protocols and emergency procedures
Coordinate with Forest Service personnel on operational matters and special projects
Staff Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor multiple Site Supervisors as direct reports
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development
Assist with recruitment, hiring, and training of seasonal and year-round staff
Foster a positive work environment that encourages professional growth
Ensure adequate staffing levels across all managed locations
Act as Manager on Duty when scheduled or appropriate
Guest Services & Quality Assurance
Maintain high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction
Address escalated guest concerns and complaints professionally
Implement quality improvement initiatives based on guest feedback
Monitor facility conditions and coordinate maintenance activities
Ensure campgrounds and day-use areas meet cleanliness and safety standards
Financial Management
Maintain and follow operating budgets for assigned locations
Monitor revenue performance and implement strategies to meet financial targets
Oversee fee collection processes and cash handling procedures
Control operational expenses while maintaining service quality
Environmental Stewardship
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices
Implement Leave No Trace principles and educate staff and guests
Coordinate with Forest Service on resource protection initiatives
Monitor and report on environmental issues or concerns
Participate in sustainability programs and initiatives
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in outdoor recreation, hospitality, or related industry
Previous experience managing multiple locations or complex operations
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Experience working with government agencies or in regulated environments preferred

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions
Physical capability to walk extensive distances on uneven terrain
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between multiple locations
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons
