9 Easy-to-Find Waterfalls Near Davidson River Campground

PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST, NC

Looking Glass Falls: The most photographed waterfall in the Southeast! From Davidson River Campground, travel north on 276 to the observation deck on the right-hand side. Steps lead to a lower observation point to get a closer view of this magnificent sight.

Sliding Rock Falls: Continue past Looking Glass Falls on 276 north to the falls recreation area on the left. The falls are a big spot in the summer, and allow the family to slide down the smooth rock into a deep pool. There is a very small fee per car for this site in the summer.

Slick Rock Falls: From the campground, travel north on 276 to the first road on the left, Davidson River Road. Drive 1.5 miles, past the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education, to FR 475B on the right. Go 1.1 miles to a small pull-off on the right and hike approximately 200 feet to the waterfall.

Moore Cove Falls: Travel past Looking Glass Falls to the stone bridge. There is a parking area on the right side and a new wooden bridge over the creek. The falls are an easy .7 mile hike, and are well worth it!

Laughing Falls: Take a right out of the campground to the intersection of 64/276 and make a left turn (the road will be 280 here). Travel .7 miles to Old NC 280 and turn left. Take a left onto SR 1360 and continue until the road dead-ends at a parking area. To hike to the falls, take the right fork in the road and rock-hop the South Prong of Turkey Creek. Follow the road on the immediate left and head upstream to the falls.

Yellowstone Falls: Head North on 276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn left on the Parkway and continue to a parking area at milepost 418.8. The trail to the falls starts at the north end of the parking area. Trail length is .5 to the lowest set of falls.

Toxaway Falls: From the campground, make a right on 276 to the intersection of 64/276. Take a right and head into downtown Brevard. Take a left at the courthouse onto 276 south. After leaving Brevard, you will head up the mountain towards the Lake Toxaway community. The falls parking area will be on the right side at the top of the mountain.

Triple Falls/Hooker Falls: These magnificent falls are located at DuPont State Forest. Drive through the intersection of 64/276 onto 64 east towards Hendersonville. Take a right onto Crab Creek Road at the Texaco station and quarry. Continue through the Crab Creek area and make a right onto Staton Road. Follow this road up the mountain to the Hooker Falls access area on the right side. Use the Hooker Falls road to see Hooker Falls, or cross Staton Road and hike the .5 mile trail up to the gorgeous Triple Falls. You will not be disappointed!
