Reports to: Director of Operations, Ocala
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt (Salaried)
Salary Range: $50,000 - $53,000 annually, commensurate with experience

The Operations Manager oversees multiple campgrounds and day-use areas in the Ocala National Forest, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations while fostering a culture of exceptional guest service and environmental stewardship.

This position is preferred to live on-site at Salt Springs in their own RV. Full hookup RV site with all utilities is provided.

  • Host site is contingent on employment and ends when employment is terminated

  • Approval for exceptions to on-site requirement is solely at the Company’s discretion.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple Forest Service campgrounds and recreation sites

  • Ensure compliance with all Forest Service regulations, permits, and contract requirements

  • Monitor budgets, expenses, and revenue for multiple locations

  • Support retail operations including campground stores and watercraft rentals

  • Implement and maintain safety protocols and emergency procedures

  • Coordinate with Forest Service personnel on operations and special projects

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate multiple Site Supervisors

  • Support training of seasonal and year-round staff

  • Foster a positive, professional, and safety-conscious work culture

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels across all managed locations

Guest Services & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction

  • Resolve escalated guest concerns professionally and promptly

  • Monitor facility cleanliness, safety, and maintenance conditions

Financial Management

  • Maintain and follow operating budgets

  • Monitor revenue and control operational expenses

  • Oversee fee collection, deposits, and cash handling procedures

Environmental Stewardship

  • Implement and promote environmental best practices and Leave No Trace principles

  • Coordinate with Forest Service on sustainability and resource protection initiatives

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in outdoor recreation, hospitality, or a related industry

  • Experience managing multiple locations or complex operations preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • Prior work with government agencies or regulated environments strongly desired

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites

  • A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with government or public land agencies is a strong plus.

  • Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Solid computer proficiency — including Microsoft Office Suite, budgeting tools, and basic database management

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation operations, facilities management, and environmental practices

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple demands, and adapt to changing conditions

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Physical capability to walk long distances on uneven terrain

  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons

  • May require living in remote areas with limited amenities
