TITLE: Recreation Host/Lifeguard
LOCATION: Alexander Springs or Juniper Springs
REPORTS TO: Alexander Springs or Juniper Springs Site Supervisor
JOB TYPE: Seasonal
AVAILABILITY: Must be available to work evenings, holidays and weekends
COMPENSATION: Average: $18.50 per hour ($16.50 per hour for on-site Host/Lifeguard shifts)
**Average pay rate will vary depending on total hours worked as lifeguard per shift
Job Description:
As a Recreation Host/Lifeguard, you’ll help create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for visitors to the Alexander or Juniper Springs Recreation Areas. The ideal candidate will possess friendly, professional communication and customer service skills, paired with strong swimming skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all patrons.
Certified Lifeguards welcome or Naventure may provide certification (seasonal commitment required for paid Naventure certification). If you are enthusiastic about outdoor recreation and committed to expanding your skills to include lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications, this position may be for you!
Primary Duties:
Monitor Springs designated swimming areas to prevent accidents and ensure guest safety
Enforce rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment
Respond promptly to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as necessary
Assist with guest services, addressing any questions or concerns from patrons
Perform heavy lifting when necessary for equipment setup or maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of the swimming and waterside areas, ensuring they are free from hazards
Essential Functions:
Must be willing to commit to at least 3 months of employment to qualify for Company-provided Lifeguard Certification program.
Proficient swimming skills with the ability to perform rescues if needed
Lifeguard Certification required. If interested, but require certification, Naventure will provide training and certification for qualified candidates
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required
Strong guest service skills to enhance the experience of all visitors
Ability to lift heavy objects safely and effectively
Excellent observational skills to identify potential safety risks
Assists in inspecting and cleaning the grounds.
Complete all required reports, including the daily use report.
Routine cleaning of the day use area, toilet facilities, grills, and grounds.
Engage the visitor to increase their experience level.
Support any Interpretive programs.
Provide recreation and local area information to customers.
Use “Good Host” concepts with the public.
Work is performed primarily outdoors in variable weather conditions.
Requires strong swimming skills, mobility on uneven natural terrain; extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling light to heavy loads.
Occasional travel between sites may be required.
