Matt Ragan
GENERAL MANAGER, OCALA FOREST SITES
Matt is the General Manager for Naventure in the Ocala National Forest, where he brings decades of experience in outdoor programming, facility operations, and land stewardship. Prior to joining Naventure, Matt spent 27 years with the Central Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America, overseeing outdoor programs, capital projects, and management of the 1,300-acre Camp La-No-Che. Under his leadership, the camp offered year-round programming in aquatics, target sports, ecology, adventure activities, and more—serving thousands of youth and families each year.
Matt’s dedication to outdoor leadership has been recognized with several of Scouting’s highest honors, including induction into the Order of the Arrow, the Vigil Honor, and the prestigious Founders Award for his service to conservation and outdoor education. A graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Community Health Education, he also served six years in the Indiana Army National Guard and has worked with community organizations to improve lives through nature-based experiences—including leading at-risk youth on extended backpacking trips along the Appalachian Trail.
Now at Naventure, Matt is excited to continue fostering meaningful connections with nature, friends, and family through programming that highlights the unique beauty of the Ocala National Forest. Whether it’s paddling spring runs, exploring scenic trails, or gathering around the campfire, Matt’s passion for the outdoors is at the heart of his work every day.
