SUPERVISES: All staff at Juniper Springs, Mill Dam                          

JOB TYPE: Year Round

WORK WEEK: 40 hours a week, Thursday through Monday

SALARY: TBD     

Position Summary: This position oversees all Juniper Springs area sites including: Juniper Springs,Mill Dam, Wildcat Lake, Juniper Wayside, Sweetwater Cabin. This position is responsible for ensuring that all sites are fully staffed with professional and courteous individuals. Naventure recognizes that the ultimate success of our company comes from the staff they employ and how that staff interacts with our guests.  This position will therefore strive to recruit, train, and retain the highest quality staff possible. This position will work directly with all staff to provide a high level of leadership, mentorship, and managerial support. This year-round position is critical to the success of Naventure and therefore we are looking for one dedicated person to fill this role.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.  

  • Recruit, hire and train staff for all areas this position is responsible for. 

  • Identify and train potential Assistant Managers for coverage on days off

  • Collaborate with administrative staff to organize and facilitate staff orientation and training classes to ensure that all staff fully understand their roles.

  • Maintain open communication with Naventure administrative staff.

  • Create weekly schedules or verify weekly schedules so that all areas have adequate staffing.

  • Create and cultivate a positive work environment for all on-site staff.

  • Holds all staff to Naventure standards and keeps them accountable

  • Manage bookings and respond to electronic and phone inquiries related to camp information in a timely manner.

  • Maintain a back-up log of site rental along with campers contact information when the power is out.

  • Ensure the gatehouse is staffed appropriately according to the Special Use Permit (SUP).

  • Collect campsite fees for campers and record transactions accordingly.  

  • Submit administrative reports on-time to the General Manager.

  • Report infrastructure, repair, to the General Manager.

  • Report groundskeeping or equipment issues to the General Manager. 

  • Manage inventory, to include cleaning supplies, firewood, toiletries, retail, and ice. 

  • Re-order designated items with prior approval as necessary and verify receipt of purchased supplies.

  • Ensure operations of retail space at Juniper Springs. 

  • Ensure campground rules are adhered to and carried out.

  • Evict campers as necessary due to failure to pay rental fees, destruction of property, or breaking the camp rules.

  • Verify all payroll hours for staff before turning them into our accounting department to be processed each Monday. 

  • Responsible for collecting, counting, and preparing cash for deposit in the bank at Juniper Spring, Mill Dam, and Wildcat Lake. 

  • Primary point of contact for all groups staying at Sweetwater Cabin cabin guests during their stay in the cabin.

  • Ensure that Mill Dam Campground is clean and well maintained before the arrival of each group.    

  • Ensure that Sweetwater Cabin is clean and well maintained before the arrival of each group. 

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the position and/or to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

  • The ability to recruit, cultivate, and manage a team of diverse on-site staff.

  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in campground management.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with Naventure, United States Forest Service, and the public.

  • Must possess computer skills, word processing, and database management applications, such as Recreation.gov and Microsoft 360

  • Must adhere to streamlined processes put forth by the administrative staff.

  • The ability to independently respond to any emergencies according to protocol as they arise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior experience and qualifications necessary to perform the duties associated with the position.

  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary. 

  • Must maintain a positive, efficient, and functional work culture.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Must own a hard side camper trailer or RV suitable for long-term living.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Environment: Work is performed primarily outdoors in the Florida heat; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays and may be required to attend meetings.

  • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate building maintenance equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer/laptop/tablet; may travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to communicate (verbally and written) and exchange information. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to lift moderate to heavy amounts of weight.
