Campground Manager at Naventure
Lake Powhatan, Pisgah National Forest
Position Summary: The Campground Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall management of Lake Powhatan Campground. This full-time, year-round position plays a vital role in supporting Naventure’s mission by fostering a positive team environment, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining operational excellence. Naventure expects managers to lead by example, continuously grow as leaders, and support development in their teams. The Manager works closely with staff and leadership to uphold Naventure standards and provide a safe, enjoyable experience for all visitors.

Supervises: All campground staff
Job Type: Full-time, Year-round
Work Week: 40+ hours per week; additional hours as needed
Salary Range: $40,000-41,000 annually (based on experience); eligible for performance-based discretionary bonus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties represent typical responsibilities and may vary depending on organizational needs. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Foster a positive, team-oriented work culture and lead by example.
Provide exceptional customer service and support to campground guests.
Maintain clear, open communication with Naventure administrative staff.
Develop weekly staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage across all campground areas.
Support hiring, training, supervision, and performance management of all staff.
Uphold Naventure’s policies and procedures and hold staff accountable to performance expectations.
Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with established protocols and report them appropriately.
Support front gate operations, including visitor check-ins and fee collection.
Oversee cash handling procedures, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with company policy. Responsible for weekly deposits, gatehouse revenue management, and staff training on financial protocols.
Respond promptly to phone calls and emails regarding campground services.
Monitor inventory and assist with purchasing and restocking supplies (e.g., cleaning products, firewood, toiletries, ice, and retail items).
Report facility, groundskeeping, or equipment issues to the Maintenance Manager.
Serve as a community liaison and responsible steward of public lands.
Lead and attend regular team meetings, events, and others management tasks.
Ability to navigate uneven natural terrain on a regular basis, in all types of weather.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage a diverse, high performing team.
Experience in outdoor recreation, hospitality, or campground operations preferred.
Ability to work effectively with Naventure staff, the U.S. Forest Service, and the public.
Proficient with computers and software, including Recreation.gov, Microsoft Outlook, and Office 365.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to manage emergencies independently, calmly, and effectively.
Willingness to follow and implement administrative procedures and policies.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing leadership development.
This position requires living on-site, in your own personal recreational vehicle. It must be a fully operational, self-contained RV (photo required). Naventure provides a full hook-up campsite at no cost (including utilities). No other on-site housing is available or provided.
Minimum Requirements:
Two years previous, related management experience required.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to maintain a positive and productive workplace culture.
Valid driver’s license required.
College degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Physical Demands:
Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors in a forest setting and may require exposure to all types of weather conditions. The role may require extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Occasional travel may be required.
Physical: Must be able to perform tasks requiring mobility across uneven natural terrain, and may include extensive walking, as well as standing or sitting for long periods, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling (light to heavy loads), and using hand tools or equipment.
