Job Title: Accountant
Location: Davidson River Campground, Pisgah Forest, NC
Reports to: Naventure – Finance Leader
Job Type: Full time, salaried
Work Week: Mon. – Fri.
Salary Range: $52,000 - $58,000 per year (annualized over 12 months in 26 bi-weekly pay periods)
Additional Benefits: Hybrid schedule; 1-3 days in office (after first 90 days)
Position Summary: The Accountant will provide financial, administrative and clerical support to ensure the timely and accurate processing and payment of all expenses for two or more companies. Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs for multiple entities; currently QuickBooks Online & RAMP bill pay.
Manage RAMP purchase card system: expense transactions and reimbursement requests
Analyzing workflow processes
Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to company procedures, including scanning of vendor invoices and supporting documentation.
Processing due invoices for payments via ach and bill pay system, including obtaining all receipts from operations’ team
Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges
Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reviewing accounts.
Process and document all capital improvement (GT) project receipts and labor time for submission to U.S. Forest Service for the permit fee offset.
Create and maintain GT project worksheets for quarterly reporting
Maintain USFS fee/GT summary report and monthly recognition of fee liability
Maintain monthly visitation/occupancy report for operating companies
Prepare and pay monthly sales tax for operating companies for state and local taxing agencies
Reconcile payable and accrued expense accounts
Perform vendor account reconciliations monthly
Prepare accounts payable aging report and detail invoice report for weekly disbursements and review with Finance Leader.
Maintain and reconcile cash banks & reserve cash for operating companies
May perform monthly bank account reconciliations with appropriate research and identification of reconciling items.
Complete cost of goods sold monthly report from Square retail operations
Assists with month-end and year-end closing process
Provide administrative and special project support to finance team such as revenue budget data entry and ordering office supplies.
Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, reports, and journal entries
Work with the accounting team to provide financial information by researching, analyzing, and reconciling accounting data
Skills & Qualifications: The accountant will have a mix of organizational and analytical skills. The individual is expected to be able to analyze invoices and data, generate reports, and find discrepancies as well as cost-saving opportunities. Other qualifications include:
Competency with QuickBooks, Basic data entry skills
Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel and Word
Comfortable with math and calculations
Good listening and communication skills
Independent thinker and problem solver – solution-orientated
Attention to detail is very important
Education & Experience Requirements: The ideal candidate for this role should have at least 2-3 years of experience in accounting and/or accounts payable processing. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is necessary. An understanding of current accounting trends is a plus. Since the candidate will be working with accounting entries, experience with accounting basics, journal entries and the general ledgers is required. Other desirable skills and experience include budget creation, finance management, financial analysis & reporting, and payroll processing. This position has potential for growth and diversity as the company grows and expands with increased U.S. Forest Service contracts and independent business endeavors.
Bachelor’s degree with focus in accounting is preferred but not required.
Hybrid position (1-3 days) after 90 days of employment.
Office is currently located at the Davidson River Campground in the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC.
